Indian Tax Payer funded Diwali Mela & Film Besharam’s promotion in Times Square for Indians of New York & NJ by Chaggan Bhujbal
Forget the soaring prices of an everyday commodity like Onions in India, never mind the daily struggles of common man to survive every day, Indian Tax payers represented by Government of India owned (Many of whom with heavy losses like Air India) have decided to put in Millions of US$ to fund their another favorite project "Diwali Mela in Times Square , New York".
This is a top priority for many of the Indian government owned entities as they conveniently forgot that there is an already established "Annual Diwali Mela' organized by another Non Profit organization funded mostly by Indian Americans for the last 2 decades, successfully.

Now what might have prompted Private organizers Event Guru and ASB Communication (both belonging to Neeta Bhasin) to put together a for profit"Diwali Mela ", to promote Indian Culture (read line their pockets) and what may have gotten so many Indian Govt owned enterprises like main sponsor Maharashtra Tourism, presenting sponsor Air India, co-sponsor Bank of Baroda and many other Govt owned Banks and entities in USA also paid money.
If Maharashtra Tourism was really interested in promoting Tourism in Maharashtra they could have done in the mega 2 days event exclusively forMaharashtra every year in America by Maratha Associations of America. In this event there is nothing but every thing from Maharashtra be it culture, history, traditions, dances, music, clothing and food. Big names from Maharashtra government and business sector always participate in this event.
Moreover if concern of Culture and helping India's struggling economy through promotion of tourism was any objective, it was already being served through an established South Sea Port Diwali Mela held year after year and many other fairs funded by paying American sponsors, not Indian Taxpayers.
Person after person form the community and businessmen on condition of anonymity express their disgust with open display of disregard of economic concerns of Indian Taxpayers and an extreme urge to "line pockets of Private Organizers" and greasing palms of officials of Govt owned sponsors (Under the table dealing), who everyone knows well will work with appropriate percentages thrown to them, especially if it's happening in a foreign land.
Villains in the project are Consul General Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Chaggan Bhujbal and officials in-charge of Maharshtra Tourism MD Jagdish Patel, Senior Manager Events & Festivals (International) Dinesh Kamble, Festival Manager Mr. Samit Chavan, Maharashtra Government Principle Secretary & Chief Protocol Officer Sumit Mullick, Air India Regional Manager in America Riwo Norbhu, Bank of Baroda etc.and if properly investigated it can be found, they are beneficiaries also directly or indirectly.
MTDC in a press statement said that they will spend Rs. 1.4 crore on Diwali in New York that does not include Air Travel, Hotel, Food & local travel for the MTDC officials and a battalion traveling with Tourism Minister Chaggan Bhujbal.
The manipulative mind behind it is Ms Neeta Bhasin aka Event Guru aka ASB Communication who invented Event Guru over night to make money from the Indian Tax Payers. Under this scam Film Beshram’s cast heroine Pallavi Sharda, hero Ranbir Kapoor with parent Neetu & Rishi was introduced to the audience at Indian Tax Payers cost in Times Square, NY. The Exhibitor of this Film is Anil Ambani’s Reliance in America, every one knows can afford to buy New York City! Ms. Bhasin must have charged the Sponsors for the Bollywood Stars as well as Reliance/Besharam for hosting them at Times Square. Reliance must disclose how much money they paid to Event Guru aka ASB Communication for the promotion of their movie Besharam.
The real story is this event was initiated by PTC TV to be funded by American sponsors and it was their bad luck they roped in Neeta Bhasin aka ASB Communication aka Event Guru who threw them out from the event by roping in Chaggan Bhujbal through CG Mulay and Air India and Bank of Baroda to make it a Indian Tax Payer Funded Event.
The Diwali Mela put on the road was nothing Maharashtrian other than crooks behind it in Maratha/Kolhapuri Pagari/Turban and Lavani Dance. There was nothing related to Diwali was performed like Dance Ram Leela or Ram Stuti to welcome Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. The main attraction was cast of Beshram on the stage Ranbir his parent Rishi & Neetu and heroine Sharda Pallavi and other people behind the making of Besharam. Then there was singer Shankar Mahadevan and Canada based group CULTURAL SHOCK performing live to shock the audience. With Ranbir Kappor and his family, Bollywood dance by Pallavi Sharda and singing by Shankar Mahadevan; how they were promoting Tourism for Maharashtra in Manhattan? Practically Indian-American audience majority from North India came for Ranbir & Pallavi; how it was attracting local Americans to come to Maharashtra? Only Chaggan Bhujbal, Maharashtra Government, Air India and Bank of Baroda can answer these questions. Can all these give the name of Officers, office address, Telephone number and Income Tax ID granted to Guru Event by the US IRS (Internal Revenue Services).
CG Dnyaneshwar Mulay has also earned the distinction of hosting a Bollywood Film cast to promote their movie Besharam at Indian Tax Payers cost for the first time at the Indian Consulate. CG Mulay also earned the distinction another first time by hosting a party to welcome CMD of Bank of Baroda SS Mudra who was on a visit to New York after taking over as CMD. Earlier CG Mulay broke the Protocol by riding with Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and few racist Gujarati Leaders in Insult India Parade in New York by FIA controlled by Gujarati Leaders. It looks like CG Mullay is a Party Animal and above all loves Bollywood and loves to spend Indian Tax Payers money to satisfy his fantasies! CG Mulay is also maintaing the status quo put in place by his predecessor CG Prabhu Dayal who converted the Indian Consulate into a Pub for influential Indian Americans of New York & New Jersey.

Shedding light on the promotional activities conducted to highlight the same, Mullick said, “We have invested Rs 1.4 crores on promotions for this initiative.
The event will be publicized on digital, television, radio and print media platforms in the USA. A flash mob will also be organized at both Times Square and the Gateway of India. More than 350,000 tourists flock to the Times Square daily. It would be a major promotional campaign in September to attract foreign tourists during the festival of lights as Diwali falls in November, and tourists can plan their visit accordingly. We are leaving no stone unturned for promoting the event.”

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has added this special program on the agenda to highlight the state’s tourist spots to the NRIs. “The state of Maharashtra including cities, towns and villages has several holiday destinations of international interest that many US travelers have fallen in love with till date,”Chhagan Bhujbal, Minster of Maharashtra Tourism commented.

AUDIENCE: The Diwali flavor was missing and very disorganized event. They should have given more time to Shankar Mahadevan rather than the Canadian Based Cultural Shock performing in English!
