The Statement of Sri Pranab Mukharjee, yesterday distancing himself from the letter from his ministry to PMO on Sri Chidambaram on 2G that the letter does not reflect his views will not fool anybody. It is interesting to note that Mr. Mukharjee does not speak anything on the contents of the letter. The issue cannot be closed with the “truce” between two ministers, as this is not the internal affair of the Congress Party or UPA. Two-G is a national issue. The role of Mr. Chidambaram, as Finance Minister, the omissions and commissions on 2-G spectrum licenses issue, is to be thoroughly investigated by the CBI.
CBI cannot decide or argue that it will not investigate on Chidambaram’s role in 2-G. It is an investigation and prosecution body, which does not have the right to decide whether they will investigate about a particular person or not. The latest revelations warrant an investigation.
The Bankruptcy of UPA is getting exposed more and more with every new revelation. Prime Minister cannot escape his accountability to the nation, by taking offensive against the Media, opposition and trying to find hidden hands to destabilize his Government.
