Order to compulsory helmet wear for two wheelers , made sale of helmets as a hot cake. At the every footpath of city the sale of helmets easily available. The helmets available on footpaths are not ISI marked. Helmet available at rupees 200 to 1500 in market. Amritsar police has implemented helmet wearing compulsory for two wheelers for both driver and back seater. Some business mens also took encroachment on the footpaths of the city and appointed their salesman to sell helmets. One side district administration started the campaign against the illegal encroachment other side some business mens installed temporairy helmet shops under the political pressure.
Ramesh the helmet sales boy said, the helmet shops have been installed by the Babu ji, (he not know the real name of the owner that is under the back of this business), he is only the sales man. We have all types of helmet price rage from rupees 200 to rupees 1500. We also have different trade marked helmets.Also some ISI marked available. But people only purchased helmet rage from rupees 200 to rupees 600 only. People purchased helmet only for formality, to escape easily from the clutches of traffic rules that have been strongly imposed in city from 7th of October.If helmet wearing rules have not imposed, there have not sale of their helmets,added Ramesh.
Suresh a two wheeler rider that has been purchasing the helmet from the footpath stall, said he select the helmet of rage rupees 600, i only purchasing the helmet to escape my self from the traffic challen. Amritsar city already very conjuncted city there is not need to wear helmet, but the traffic rules have been imposed, so it has compulsory requirement to wear it.
